Cancelled - Field Expedition - Drawing to Learn the Sonoran Desert

Instructor: Dr. Lee Ann Woolery

Adult class (18 & up)

Explore the desert through artists’ eyes. Before photography, many scientists were skilled as both artist and scientist. Botanists, zoologists, geologists all sketched to learn about the subject they studied thus advancing their knowledge and scientific understanding. The Tucson Mountain Field Station at Desert Discovery Center is surrounded by an ancient saguaro cactus forest. We’ll explore the concept of ‘drawing to learn’ so bring your sketch book. We’ll be drawing, translating the land’s stories; giant saguaros, road runners, woodpeckers, and Palo Verde trees. All levels of experience welcome. Cost $45 per class. Materials fee ($5) payable at first class or bring your own. Materials list forwarded after registration.
